The best chocolate cake recipe for your Lockdown Cravings

So as some of you may know now, the Apocalypse is upon us ! Aliens… er… the Covid-19 has attacked planet Earth, making everyone sick and forcing us all to stay at home. Are we sick yet ? No. Are we home ? We sure are. Are we bored ? …DA ! Today is quarantine day 9. Real feel: 349 bloody days ! The tricky part is we don’t live together. So yes, we, The Gourgandines will have to live apart for weeks.

Yup, weeks of Whatsapping, Facebook Messengering and smoke signaling. Weeks without seeing each other 20 hours a day. That could only mean one thing: IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!

Yes, no more hysterical fights over vinyls! Oh and, no more vicious comments on gig t-shirts! No more sugarpaste vs raw food debate! And definitely, no more… Ugh, ok it sucks.

But let’s keep our spirits high anyway. As there’s nothing we love more than baking – and fighting – together, we have decided to delay our future masterpieces and concentrate on making you happy!

Starting with some comforting goodness to keep you from throwing your husband, wife or kids to the trash : a delicious chocolate cake recipe. Did we mention it’s gluten-free ? 😏

Chococalypse Cake

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs

  • 200g dark chocolate

  • 40cl milk

  • 50g almond (or coconut) powder

  • 100g cornstarch

  • 10g baking powder

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 180°.
  • Heat the milk and chocolate till it melts.
  • Whisk the egg whites.
  • In another bowl, mix the egg yolks, almond powder, cornstarch and baking powder. Add the chocolate milk then gently add the egg whites.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 mn in a pan lined with baking paper. Let cool for a few minutes before unmolding.
  • Put on your favourite record. Enjoy.
